Main Objective:

Arthrex, a growing medical device manufacturer, is looking for an experienced technical Software Quality Assurance (Test) Supervisor in our Global Information Services (IT) Division with the responsibility over testing our SAP applications, including SAP ECC 6 Suite on HANA, SAP HCM, SAP SucessFactors, SAP Concur, Fiori, EDI, and PI/SOA Interfaces with 3rd party systems.  The SQA Supervisor will be part of a dynamic software test team with established standards and processes in place supporting best practices in both manual and automating testing.  The SQA Supervisor provides leadership and direction for the SQA functions performed by direct reports, ensures excellent customer communications between multi-vendor contracting staff and between Arthrex employees and contractors, and oversees activities and successful completion of testing projects (new module implementations, configuration/customization, country rollouts, upgrades, patches, and fixes).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview, hire, train and supervise the daily activities of assigned direct reports.  Assign resources, monitor workloads, conduct performance assessments, coordinate discipline and oversee employee development.
  • Coordinate and oversee testing projects performed by SQA team members.   Including conducting and/or attending project status meetings; reviewing project dashboards and ensuring progress per project plan; facilitating communication and fostering relationships between SQA contract staff and project team members; ensuring Arthex STLC and SQA standards are followed; identifying and mitigating risks; reviewing and approving project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, quality, and achievability; monitoring the status of project schedules and budgets; and resolving conflict.
  • Conduct quality assurance checkpoint reviews, analyze and report test failures and trends, and prepare metrics related to applications under test.
  • Perform monthly review of all contract services invoices to determine accuracy of billing rate/hours.  Approve and process invoices for payment.
  • Creation of VMO scorecards and review with VMO and vendor account management.
  • Mentor direct reports with attention to individual professional and leadership competencies in order to help them achieve short-and long-term career development goals.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of concepts and practices in the field of quality assurance and system testing.  Provide thought leadership and and apply best practices in the definition, management and governance of software testing.
  • Assist SQA Manager, where needed, on other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required.
  • Minimum eight years experience in Software Quality Assurance performing GUI, Functional, Regression, Integration/Interface/File Transfer, Data Migration (ETL), and Performance testing of packaged,  custom developed (.Net/Java), and mobile applications required, plus two years experience as a Software Testing Supervisor, required.
  • Experience with testing business applications running on web, client server, and mobile platforms required, including performance of OS and browser compatibility testing. 
  • ERP knowledge and testing experience preferred.
  • Experience with testing relational databases, SQL, Oracle or XML required.  Advanced database querying skills preferred.
  • Experience with testing web services preferred.  Use of automation tools such as HP Service Test or SoapUI Pro preferred.
  • Experience with using HP ALM or equivalent Test Management tool required.
  • Experience with defining a test automation strategy required.   Use and development of automation scripts in HP UFT or equivalent Test Automation tool preferred.
  • Experience in testing emergency application defects in production systems, system patches, maintenance releases, enhancement releases, and implementations of new applications required.
  • Experience in analyzing business, functional, and technical requirements/specifications and developing and executing structured/methodical test cases to prove fulfillment of requirements and viability of application usage and functionality required.
  • Experience defining a test automation strategy required
  • Experience in managing/supervising people including hiring, firing, performance evaluation, reprimanding, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Experience in more than 1 of these modules of SAP: Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales & Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Product Planning (PP) Quality Management (QM), Plant Maintenance (PM), Human Capitol Management (HCM)?

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Working knowledge of the Software Development Life cycle and SQA’s role in it through proven explanation of the process.
  • Solid understanding of programming languages and several technologies including relational databases, SQL and XML.
  • Demonstrated ability to document test plans, test cases, test results.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.  High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong project management skills including experience in managing testing projects including resource estimation, prioritization, scheduling, and assignment, identifying risks and mitigations, and resolving conflict, as well as, coordinating and managing tasks of test team members.
  • Leadership skills with ability to provide technical and advanced test skills training to team members, influence development of business solutions, and lead multiple teams/projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and a customer service orientation.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC servers, workstations and laptops.  Microsoft environment. Work with standard current computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets and data bases.
