The SAP Training Manager will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and delivery of SAP training across the organization. This includes end users, testers, and Super Users affected by new projects; system enhancements; and ongoing post go-live sustainment. In addition, this role continually assesses user development, training materials, and training vehicles to ensure continuous improvement and relevance to the needs of the business.
Role Details:
- Establish and coordinate Super User Network for all functions who use SAP
- Replicate the Super User program that is in place today for the SCM function
- Conduct regular meetings with Super Users
- Manage rotation of qualified team members in each function to be on the Super User team
- Ensure Training documents are kept up to date and related online help screens in SAP
- General Training
- Develops an understanding of the business to design, develop, and facilitate training (for all organizational levels) that aligns with SAP business strategy and objectives
- Partners and builds relationships with SAP COE and SMEs to gain knowledge of specific work scenarios and SAP configuration requiring training
- Uses instructional design methods, including conceptual knowledge and application of adult learning theory
- Produces relevant training materials including training manuals/decks, simulations/multi-media visual aids, interactive games, job aids, and other educational materials
- Provides ongoing expertise/support to the user community
- Triages user issues and works with the SAP COE on resolution if identified as system defects after go-live
- Leverages best learning practices, standards, and processes to ensure that value is created through development and deployment of training materials
- Works with identified Super Users to accelerate their SAP development and to prepare them to train others
- Travels to business locations and delivers training and support as requested
- Maintains uPerform server (SAP Training Library)
- Maintains LMS system as it pertains to SAP materials and participation tracking
- Manages end-user feedback
- Champions new training and development initiatives
- Act as a change agent to support ongoing and new initiatives
- Stays abreast of learning trends, tools and technology, and SAP functionality updates through self-development and continued education
- Project & Release specific training
- Works with consultants and business to understand project scope
- Leads design and development of new training materials and/or update of existing materials
- Delivers Train the Trainer training, if applicable
- Delivers Tester, End User, and Super User training, as applicable
- Provides Go Live and post Go Live user support
- Acts as ongoing post Go Live user resource
- Sustainment/Ongoing Post Go Live Training
- Ensures training materials are kept up to date as organization’s use of SAP evolves
- Delivers new employee and refresher training via formal and informal classes, coaching, and on the job training
- Delivers “Next Step” training to users ready to advance their SAP skills
- Sustain, Coordinate, Manage the Super User Network
- Build on the pilot program that is being run for SCM
- Establish groups for Manufacturing, Finance and Purchasing
- Coordinate Leader for each function and manage the Super User program for sustainment, consistency and effectiveness.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, OD, BCIS, IT or related business degree
- 5+ of experience leading SAP training
- Experience designing, developing, and delivering SAP training for a large organization with measured success
- Strong technical/professional expertise in the areas of learning and development, organizational development, consulting, and learning/instructional design
- Ability to speak effectively with all levels of an organization (front line to senior executives)
- Proven execution of ADDIE method for effective development of learning content
- Familiarity with SCORM eLearning standards
- Experience with an adult learning methodology
- Experience managing an SAP Training environment
- Excellent facilitation, presentation, documentation, and editing skills
- Project management skills including the ability to multi-task and work under established deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
- Experience working in a Corporate IT environment, understanding basic information systems terminology, concepts, and practices
- Knowledge of multiple SAP modules, preferably SD, MM, FI, CO, PP, PM
- Experience as an administrator of an LMS (Learning Management System), SAP’s Plateau/Success Factors preferred
- Ability to build collaborative, productive relationships across functions and geographies
- Knowledge of training development software (Captivate preferred)
- Experience using uPerform or Infopak. Administrator experience preferred.
- Experience with the typical business processes of a consumer goods company (customer service, purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, etc.)
