Dal-Tile is currently searching for a Senior Inventory Accountant (SAP) to join the Accounting and Finance department at our Dallas headquarters. You will be responsible for administering and coordinating accounting activities for detailed inventory costs. This includes processing inputs, tracking through multiple systems and evaluation to ensure inventory accuracy, from both purchased and manufactured sources. This position will work with vast amounts of data and compiles it into a usable format that the business relies on. This position will ensure inventory costs comply with GAAP and SOX standards. The Senior Inventory Accountant will utilize their analytical skills to identify variances, accounting skills in inventory reporting and procedural skills in correcting processes. Dal-Tile Management relies on accurate inventory valuation for procurement from multiple sources and in delivering product to multiple types of customers. The ideal candidate is fascinated by puzzles and has a knack for solving them

Major Function and Scope:

  • Maintains inventory and costing databases created with information pulled from SAP usage is a big piece
  • Compiles, calculates, analyzes and tests cost data to validate inventory quantities and values used in reporting and reserve calculations.
  • Researches variance issues, determines causes and coordinates corrections.
  • Performs monthly accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly journal entries, related account reconciliations and reporting.
  • Prepares schedules and/or reports for various inventory reserve calculations.
  • Preparation of schedules and/or reports required by internal and external auditors in connection with the audit and SOX compliance testing.
  • Assists in the documentation and maintenance of inventory sub-processes, including the identification and testing of controls.
  • Prepares schedules and/or reports for various inventory reserve calculations
  • Demonstrates initiative and insight in preparation of Ad Hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned.

Additional Insight:

This person is going to be a data cruncher in this department. Maintaining inventory and costing databases created with information pulled from SAP is one piece. Functionally it might be better described as a data-miner of costing and inventory. We are wanting the cost analysis experience versus a financial accountant. SAP experience is required

Experience Requirements:

  • Recent SAP Experience is required 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 to 10 years inventory accounting experience as an Inventory Accountant or Cost Accountant
  • Manufacturing or Distribution industry experience required, with both preferable
  • Proficient in MS Access and advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience with setting up SQL Report Queries
  • ERP experience required
  • Demonstrated BI/BO experience is strong asset
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to interact with all levels of management and ability to explain variances and present solutions
  • Ability to manage large volume of transactions effectivel
