This role is responsible for managing a team of internal and external IT consultants to execute projects centered on our client's Global ERP, SAP ECC6.

Project Description

On May 2nd 2019, our client announced the intention to divest the Power and Energy (P+E) part of the company. To support this, multiple IT projects will be initiated to separate the 2 companies in all systems. This role is focused on leading the work to separate the P+E business from the remaining client’s business in the various SAP environments in scope (ECC5, ECC6).

The SAP tasks will focus in three main areas:

  • Company Code realignment
  • Separation of SAP ERP environment
  • P+E Business Migration to go forward SAP environment
  • Migration of client Product Lines out of P+E locations and into client locations

Role

The SAP Project Manager will be required to lead one or more teams of SAP Functional Consultants (internal and external) to successfully deliver the separation of P+E from our client in the SAP environment. Overall direction will be provided by the client’s IT leadership but execution will be driven by this role.

They will need to lead detailed Functional activities to identify, analyze and solve complicated “entanglements” between the 2 companies.

They will leverage previous SAP implementation knowledge to identify key inter dependencies and develop (and manage) task plans to resolve then successfully.

They will be responsible for ensuring thorough testing of the changes by both the IT Functional teams and the business teams (UAT).

Good, communication skills will be essential to ensure that: all parties are engaged and accept the final solution; all dependencies (inside and outside of the project) are managed; accurate and timely status is reported.

Required Skills

Project Management

  • Proven ability to manage multiple medium sized projects at a time
  • At least 10 years Project Management Experience
    • Of which, at least 5 years of experience managing SAP implementations
      • Experience of Divestiture related work a plus
  • Experience engaging and “corralling” remote Business Partners and driving them towards completing required tasks
  • Experience managing external vendors as key delivery partners
  • Proven experience in the implementation of the core disciplines of project management
    • Planning
    • Scope Management
    • Risk and Issue Management
    • Budget Control

Communication

  • Proven ability to communicate with Geo-diverse teams and multiple levels of leadership
  • Ability to facilitate discussions between Internal/External Business and IT groups (often from multiple countries) and IT and business groups
  • Must be able to identify and negotiate compromises without the need for escalation
  • Manage the environment around the project, stakeholders

    Team Leadership

  • Proven experience in leading cross functional, cross geography teams (managing conflicting priorities, requirements, etc.)
  • Proven ability to draft finite timelines and milestones from “fluffy” discussions
  • Lead a team consisting of resources from multiple countries/backgrounds
  • Needs to be an efficient delegator to both Internal and External project team members and be able to track that what was delegated gets done
  • Drive the team to work to the pace of the fastest member
  • Expert in Conflict management and resolution; Including escalation and identifying key “expert” needs as required
  • Facilitate to resolve problems and enable the team to define solutions.
