Job Description:
The finance system architect reports to the Head of Finance Technology and is responsible for developing, supporting and maintaining Finance Systems. Primarily these systems are SAP based (FICO, BW and BPC); however, there are a growing number of non-SAP systems in the portfolio. The architect must partner with the business, as well as their colleagues in IT, to understand the businesses’ requirements and priorities. Objective of the architect is to both develop a roadmap which will support the collective vision as well as lead the delivery. In addition, they will serve as the US team lead, managing the analysts, developing them technically and professionally, as well as managing and enhancing business relationships with key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Proven experience managing a high performing team
Actively support establishing and maturing the target operating model, including documenting processes and procedures
Assist in identifying, capturing and reporting KPI’s and operational metrics
Structure and facilitate team and stakeholder meetings
Develop and mature relationship with the business, enhancing business confidence in the finance technology team
Collaboration, specifically with other architects, to understand system dependencies and determine prioritizations
Establish & facilitate regular stakeholder prioritization and update meetings
Manage and escalate risks & issues through the appropriate channels
Lead Root Cause Analysis and drive efforts to resolve root causes identified
Responsible for incident, change and release management within functional workstream
Support internal and external audit requests

Strong leader, comfortable communicating to C Level leadership and challenging existing paradigms
Exceptional communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technology concepts to non-technology personnel

Perform ongoing and year-end employee reviews
In partnership with direct report, create development plans and track to them
Mentor finance system analysts, providing coaching and feedback
Competencies Required
Understanding of the Finance and Accounting function
Knowledge of project management methodologies and facilitation techniques in order to lead and/or support project and enhancement efforts
Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
Ability to analyse high-level requirements and translate to into detailed system design to be used for architectural design, cost / benefit analysis, and solution development
Problem solving – quickly understand complex problems and provide practical / pragmatic solutions
Workload prioritization
Willingness to delegate and understanding what and when to do so
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
Excellent design, configuration and testing of core SAP FICO functionality (including fixed assets)
Deep functional / technical proficiency with at least 10 years’ experience in FICO and 3+ full cycle implementations
Able to recommend process improvement options with confidence and expertise
Good cross-modular knowledge to understand end-to-end finance processes and integration with systems such as BW and BPC
Understanding the business processes and how these are supported by the systems
Write test scripts, perform testing and conduct defect resolution
Provide end user support and training as required on all core finance systems
Support business as usual operations, including completing of month and year end finance close
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Preferred
SAP ECC Journal Entry Workflow (Park & Post) – highly desirable
SAP BW Configuration experience – highly desirable
SAP BPC experience – highly desirable
Knowledge of operations, front office, risk, performance team activities
Experience working on a global team and/or managing stakeholders across the globe
