Located just 30 minutes North of Chicago, Stepan is a major manufacturer of basic and intermediate chemicals. Stepan was founded over 80 years ago and has 19 global manufacturing locations with a support network of over 2,000 employees.
Our SAP Business Analyst will be responsible for:
Procure to Pay Process
- Perform tactical and strategic support functions to meet the needs of the of the global community while supporting company goals and objectives.
- Provide the front line SAP support to all location in inventory management (IM) component of the materials module.
- Provide SAP assistance to IT 'Help Desk' as needed. Will be frontline support for any peripheral systems in the procure to pay area. (Ariba, P-Card integration).
- Support the technical procure to pay personnel as necessary to ensure timely delivery of fixes or enhancements.
- Guide standardization of work processes for SAP locations operations and compare to benchmarking data and/or best practices identifying performance opportunities and implement changes.
- Conduct workshops to augment SAP knowledge across all SAP locations.
- Assist in the management of SAP projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Research technical and professional resources for information on addressing current SAP issues and apply the solutions.
- Testing, standardizing processes, training of current users, reinforcing preferred practices and SAP transaction. Process standardization, user training and documentation of standardized processes.
- Implement configuration changes and minor customer development activities as needed.
Business Process Optimization:
- Evaluate information and system needs with functional line and executive personnel. Implement processes to support global logistics activities and improve service to the customers.
- Responsible for blueprinting, research, identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility and implement complex workflows to optimize business processes.

- Evaluate Stepan work processes with a focus on improvement; identify and implement sustainable continuous improvement processes.
- Participate on cross functional teams and projects to aid in the development of strategic plans that provide benefits to the organization.
- Develop and distribute applicable procedures and documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer of successful practices to all SAP locations.
- Provide analysis with the goal of improving department processes and procedures.
- Develop, document and implement sustainable processes to improve productivity and reduce cost.
- Challenge conventional wisdom and create innovative strategies designed to optimize continuous process improvements.
- Perform process mapping as needed to evaluate and improve processes.
Mentoring
- Mentor and coach others to aid in competency growth in systems and processes. Work with members of the procure to pay departments to ensure that processes are understood and responsibilities are in place.

- Link process improvements to strategic plan and establish criteria for success.
- Act as a key driver of change within the business, supporting management/cross functional decisions by communicating changes to the employees and helping them learn, understand, adjust, and grow with business decisions that are critical to success.

Business Analytics:
- Responsible for identification and definition of the stakeholders business needs and determine workable solutions. Control execute projects to meet identified business needs and deliver value, acquiring and utilizing necessary resources and skills to meet timetables, quality and cost.
- Focus on business performance and constantly strives to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and reduces cost via the use of Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Assist employees analyzing the procure to pay process for cost saving opportunities.
- Lead and direct teams for strategic and high impact processes improvements.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Identify and recommend improvements to metrics and performance standards using research, industry knowledge, and best practices.
Global SAP Implementation:
- This position will co-own SAP configuration that supports all procurement activities. These activities, include participating on the Procure to Pay implementation team, blueprinting of facilities, documentation, training, and preparation for the Procure to Pay team for go live activities.
