Responsibilities

The  SAP Development Manager is responsible for coordinating a team of developers for the delivery and/or support of the Development portion of the SAP solution that meets the business requirements. The person in this role provides expertise in managing the development of the identified technical specifications, support of all development aspects of a customer implementation project and facilitates the definition of relevant development of the SAP implementation as well as defining development standards and procedures.  

  • Responsible for custom developments made to SAP, including technical design, coding, quality testing, deployment, and support.  
  • Responsible for design and execution of application layer disaster recovery and high availability plans to provide high availability for the SAP environment
  • Involved in developing, modifying and implementing optimal SAP system solutions to assist business processes that may have a company-wide effect
  • Oversees the technical implementation of SAP business process changes and standardization
  • Manages employees who perform similar or related development; manages a team of direct reports as well as external resources
  • Responsible for planning and managing the software development aspects of a wide range of business process improvement projects, new business initiatives, and the ongoing administration of SAP software systems  
  • Oversees SAP development teams, and external consulting partner teams engaged in writing code that improves business processes;
  • Anticipates potential issues:  troubleshoots, researches and resolves issues and problems associated with performance, capacity issues related to software applications
  • Analyzes and makes recommendation for the planning and design of new applications, related systems, systems improvements
  • Accountable for availability and performance of business dependent applications
  • Provides ongoing work direction, including scheduling, work assignments and project reviews to assigned staff
  • Participates in ensuring that the budgets, schedules and results of assigned projects are met
  • Provides technical guidance to project areas in conceiving and implementing systems design
  • Approves final application design and ensures that design and programming standards are met, user buy in is achieved and implementation is successful
  • Implements internal software development controls and verifies compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Designs and enforces development and application administration standards, quality, and processes
  • Selects / recommends vendor software packages in assigned application areas, and assists in negotiating vendor contracts
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the integrity and quality of SAP development

Qualifications

Has advanced in-depth knowledge of / skills in the content areas of:

- SAP system tools in the ABAP workbench ( ABAP, ALE, BAPI, RFC, BDC, SmartForms, and SAP Script)

- - Designing and managing business process improvement software development projects

- Application design, development, testing, implementation and integration at an enterprise level

- IGT’s system design, programming, testing and documentation and implementation standards

- Project management

- Software organization, programming languages, technical report generation, evaluation of technical plans, system management, technical design, systems software development and installation, troubleshooting, test plans related to computer equipment and software

Typically has 5 to 7 years of experience in business process improvement solution development and implementation

•            Typically has 1 to 3 years supervisory or management experience

•            Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
