Position Overview
The SAP Finance Director based in Madison, NJ will be the point of contact for Finance-related SAP ECC matters, including transactional issues, system enhancements and upgrades, and Finance master data.  The role will actively leverage functional, industry, and SAP ERP knowledge to develop and to drive execution of SAP best practices for strategic and corporate business processes and will participate in ongoing landscape assessment of Allergan’s business processes, as well as technology, to identify strategic value-added opportunities.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
  • Act as the strategic partner to Finance functional leads and collaborate with them to develop and implement finance related solutions and roadmaps that support business objectives.
  • Drive the assessment, prioritization and execution of enhancement projects.
  • Directly manage and deliver on some of those projects and influence an internal team of SAP professionals as well as external consultants to deliver high quality solutions.
  • Active involvement and leadership in evaluating current SAP/financial system solution gap and transactional/master data issues within Finance.
  • Lead Finance business users in end-to-end testing & implementation of identified and agreed system solutions. 
  • Partner with IT to support and prepare for future migration and upgrades to latest technology, such as SAP S4 Hana, New GL, BPC, Business Warehouse and other targeted opportunities like Data Clean Up and Archiving.
  • Prepare communication to senior management, business unit leaders and major stakeholders in support of identified opportunities.
  • Develop technical and analytical skills of direct report/s through shared experiences and guidance.
Requirements
The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:
  • 20 years SAP experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in mergers, acquisitions, expansions and divestiture.
  • Practical experience in S4/Hana, New GL, BPC, Business Warehouse, Data Cleanup and Archiving.
  • Pharma Industry knowledge a must.
Preferred Skills/Qualification
The below skills are attributes that are desired in the ideal candidate.
  • In depth hands-on SAP ECC Finance experience 20+ years.  Configuration work experience in SAP ECC a must.  Ability to troubleshoot FI transactional issues and understand (and like) financial reconciliation (approaches, techniques, pitfalls).
  • Strong, working knowledge of accounting systems/financial applications and understand inherent interdependencies.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence - ability to motivate staff.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong domain knowledge: finance/accounting, financial systems, project management, data management related to ECC and BPC.  Understand system interdependencies.
  • Understand leading practices and industry trends in SAP.  Practical experience in S4/Hana, New GL, Business Warehouse, Data Cleanup and Archiving.
  • Strong business and financial background.  Knowledge of Sarbanes – Oxley act and US GAAP.
  • Thorough understanding of the software implementation life cycle with special emphasis on conceptual solution development, functional analysis and design, and testing. Ability to translate vague business requirements into requirements and architecting solutions.
  • Strong leadership, planning and project management skills relevant to the development and maintenance of financial applications.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or IT.  Post graduate degree a plus.
